Maurice Wilson was the last person to disappear climbing Mount Everest before World War II. The event occurred on May 31, 1934. Wilson was from the United Kingdom and had made a solo expedition in 1934.

The top nationality by number of casualties to date is Nepal. A total of 111 citizens residing in Nepal (among those registered) have died. In second place tied are India and Japan with 19 victims per nation. In fourth and fifth position are the United Kingdom with 17 and the United States with 15. In addition to the nations already mentioned are countries such as Yugoslavia.

But which mountains in the world have the highest number of fatalities? The most dangerous mountain in the world to date is Everest. The total death toll is 307. In second place among the most dangerous mountains in the world is K2. iL K2, located between China and Pakistan and with a height of 8,611 meters, has a total of 91 fatalities. In third position, however, is Nanga Parbat - located in Pakistan in Gilgit-Baltistan Province (in the Himalayan range).
